The choice between EPDM and PVC depends on your individual requirements. EPDM liner is the premium solution for long-lasting projects: it is extremely elastic, UV-resistant, root-resistant, and comes with a 25-year manufacturer's warranty. EPDM is perfect for large ponds, fish ponds, and swimming ponds. PVC liner is the more affordable alternative with excellent value for money: it is flexible, easy to install, and ideal for smaller garden ponds or projects with a limited budget.
Calculating the correct liner size is easier than you think. Use our free size calculator on the website: simply enter the length, width, and depth of your planned pond, and the calculator will automatically calculate the required liner size, including overlap and safety margin.
The liner thickness depends on the pond size and intended use. For small garden ponds up to 10 square meters, a thickness of 0.5 to 1.0 millimeters is perfectly adequate. For medium-sized ponds between 10 and 50 square meters, we recommend 1.0 to 1.2 millimeters – this is the standard for most garden ponds. For large ponds over 50 square meters, swimming ponds, or fish ponds with koi, you should choose 1.2 to 1.5 millimeters, as these are subject to greater stress.

Yes, absolutely! Pond underlay is essential and protects your pond liner from damage caused by stones, roots, and sharp objects in the ground. Without underlay, the liner can be damaged by pressure and friction, leading to leaks – even the smallest stones can create holes over the years. The underlay acts as a cushion between the ground and the liner, significantly extending the lifespan of your pond.
Should the pond liner become damaged over the years, it can be easily repaired. For EPDM liners, use special EPDM repair kits with adhesive and patches. For PVC liners, use PVC adhesive and PVC patches. The repair process is similar to fixing a bicycle tire: find the hole, clean and dry the area, apply the adhesive, press on the patch, and let it dry for 24 hours.
